About Pacific Elite Taxidermy

Our History

My name is Steven Ray and I'm the founder of Pacific Elite Taxidermy. Just like most reading this, I’m an avid Hunter. Taxidermy has been in my family for over a century. I was taught by my grandfather who has been practicing taxidermy for over 60 years. I first started practicing taxidermy at the age of 12 when I harvested my first deer. Fast forward two decades and I'm still doing what I love! Pacific Elite Taxidermy is based in the Willamette Valley servicing all of the PNW.

You will want to skin the hide immediately and keep it cool. If you are not confident in skinning the hide off of the head, then please leave that to us. If we are doing a shoulder mount make sure you cut the cape extra long. We can always remove excess hide but we can’t add it. If you aren’t able to drop your hide off right away double bag it in a garbage bag and place it in the freezer. Make sure you take the hide out at least 24 hours ahead of time so it’s start out enough to inspect at the time of drop off.

It depends on what type of amount you were getting and what time of year it is. On average, you can expect a shoulder mount or a rug to take about six months. Repairs/restorations can be done in a matter of days.

The short answer is yes. If the hide had proper care and was in a stable freezer. You are more than likely OK. If for whatever reason the hide is no longer good we can always help you find a new hide.

Absolutely not. Under no circumstance would be willing to mount a pet.
